Slaughter House

To you, this might be a picture of a SHARK: a cold, vicious, man-eating monster. But to me, it's a magnificent creature worthy of awe and respect. I saw JAWS when I was seven years old, and I cried when the shark got blown up. Yup, I'm serious. Because my belief is that the ocean belongs to the creatures that dwell in it. Man, in his arrogance, has tried to conquer every part of the planet, including the seas. So when someone gets attacked by a shark, my reaction (however harsh it may seem) is far from sympathetic.
People tell me: "you might say that you love sharks, but you'd sing a different tune if one bit your leg off". This is true, but my answer is always the same: that the point is, I would NOT venture into the open water because I'd be serving myself up as a buffet! I don't understand how people can blame sharks when they get attacked, or even when they hear about an attack, because Sharks have ruled the seas for millions of years. If some new, cocky species invaded my turf, and I was the most effective predator underwater, I'd bite a few parts off, too; teach it a lesson.

I find it appalling and infuriating how the Great White Shark population has decreased in the last 20 years. If my research is correct ( I explored the World Wildlife Fund webpage at length ), then the Great White is an Endangered Species. We already know that the world seal population is getting out of control, so what happens when we finally wipe out one of the two major predators that hunt it? What most people don't understand is that we shouldn't risk damaging the fragile ecosystem that is the Ocean. Just like every other predator on this planet, the Great White has an important role to play, as do all sharks. We have no right to hunt him down for pleasure and pride. Take a look at a fisherman who's hooked a humongous shark: who's the ruthless killer? I doubt very much you'll think it's the lifeless animal dangling from a bloody hook...

GREAT WHITE TO FISHERMEN: "You have a problem with me patrolling the Oceans in search for food?" Click here for what I have to say...
