Michael surprised me with tickets to Beauty and the Beast musical for my birthday. We were all dressed up and had dinner at a really nice restaurant in the Peabody Hotel in Memphis. After dinner, he had a horse and carriage ready to take us for a ride around the city. We pulled up in front of the Orpheum theater and enjoyed the scenery--or so I thought (I was completely oblivious to what he had planned). Out of the corner of my eye I caught the electronic marquee above the theater --it said "Sharon, will you marry me?" I was soooo surprised. Michael saw me looking at it and said to watch the whole thing--he had rented it out for 30 minutes to say, "I've found the one with whom I want to share my life. So I'm here tonight to ask her to be my wife. Sharon, will you marry me?" All I can say is WOW! He then showed me the ring and recited a poem he had written about the symbolism of the ring and his commitment and asked me again. Of course I said "YES!!!" Later he told me he had two friends in the bushes videotaping the whole thing--so we are caught on tape!
