I love to spend my time outdoors. I find it very relaxing. Although I have slowed down the last few years ... I still enjoy the odd adventure. What gets me out? Well alone or with friends my interests are many... River Trips I own my own kayak, and I will get out on flat water and white water. I feel most comfortable in class 3 rapids. I have been in class 4 but mostly upside down. I do roll up a good 80 % of the time, but have experienced a few nasty swims that keep me comfortable in class 3. Val`s Class Rating Class 1: Flat water Class 2: Swift water Class 3: Swit water with some obsticals to avoid Class 4: Fast whitewater / obsticals / planned route. Class 5: Fast White water / plan your route or loose a limb. Class 6: It was nice knowing you. I travel the Ontario Region, places like Ottawa, Minden, Elora, Maddawaska, and yes, the Thames River hear in London, Ontario. There was one time when I turned out the lights to go to sleep and, I glowed in the dark. I do enjoy rafting as well. after the first few times down the Ottawa in a raft, I wanted to be closer to the river. If you ain`t swimming a kayak is nice and close. I also had the chance to raft down the Colorado River with a group O.A.R.S. An American Company that takes you down the Grand Canyon. WOW ! That was quite a trip. Well if I`m not camping out somewhere along a river, I enjoy other things. Cycling, rollerblading, and yes even kite flying. I would very much like, some day, to blade or cycle the Niagra Region. Oh yes, I must stop and browse the vineyards. In the winter I head for the slopes, or do some X-country skiing. The best place I have been to is Holiday Valley NY. A 4 hr drive but worth it. There are local ski resorts but after a while I crave a more satisfying ski. |
