• There are 15 state languages and 1652 regional languages
• The dominant relegion is Hinduism
• Hindus account for 83%,Muslims 10%,Sikhs 8%,Buddhists 3%,Christians 2%,Jains 2% and others 2%
• Caste system in India is unique
• Broadly there are four groups-Brahmins,Kshatriya,Vaishya and Sudra
• Even now sudras or low caste people are subjected to injustice by upper caste people
