Dear friends,
How are you all? We are fortunate to be well and happy.
Andrew has at last got a new job. He started at Whiteley Electronics in Mansfield in July. The company makes audio equipment for trains, but has also been branching out into visual displays. The journey to and from Mansfield is quite long, but the work is very interesting and varied.
Sue's job at the doctor's surgery is now permanent - usually 25 hours a week - more recently due to illness and holidays. She finds it slightly tiring but does enjoy it. Sue has "come out" this year by confessing to be an ardent Terry Wogan fan, even taping the bits she has to miss!
Sue and Andrew still enjoying being part of the music groups at Church, both at the Abbey Congregation in the morning and at Melton Road in the evening. Sue has even been known to tootle along on her recorder occasionally. We will be taking part in a carol service at St. Giles which is to be recorded for Radio Nottingham!
Ben has passed his NVQ level 2 in business studies and is working toward level 3 now. He has changed company and now works for Amari Plastics which he is enjoying very much. He is learning to drive and has passed his written exam. He still plays basket ball. Can and does iron shirts. Short sleeves are better as there is less to iron.
Jamie's paper round is now in the evening. He has now started his GCSE years. He is trying hard but is not really enjoying school. He only rarely goes ice skating now as his friends aren't so keen, which is a shame as he really loves it. Sue has decorated his bedroom this year in shades of blue and yellow which Jamie is pleased with. However, it has done nothing to improve the level of tidyness.
We holidayed in Lyme Regis at the end of June this year. It was enjoyable, but will probably be the last year we will holiday together.
We will all be here for Christmas this year, with 11 for lunch and maybe the same number for tea. The boys will be going to their Dad's for a few days from the day after Boxing day.
We have tried to be a bit more organised this year about cards and presents to avoid the last minute panic. But even though we seem to have done a lot, there still seems to be a lot more to do. We do have the cranberry sauce, bread sauce and turkey, we just have to remember to defrost it.
There is a cat named Mulder that Sue feeds with brown bread when he comes into the garden. He really must like it as he waits at the back door and meows for it. We spotted a squirrel in the garden a few times and put out some nuts to encourage it to visit regularly. It ignored the nuts, but the birds are really enjoying them. We had our own frogs spawn in the pond this year which turned into tadpoles and we saw a few baby frogs.
We hope you have enjoyed reading our news, we would love to hear from you.
We pray you will know God's peace and blessing this Christmas and in the coming year.
