In April of 2001 I created my own business that sells collectible vintage
computers. In November of that year that business also began selling solar electric power (photovoltaic) modules, wind generators, and energy efficient products (LED lamps, compact fluorescent bulbs, solar power radios, etc.).
In August 2002, the business shifted its focus almost entirely to renewable energy products that produce electricity. Later the business began selling books as well. The business has two websites. They are:

As a temporary of Talent Tree I worked on assignments at a number of companies, including the following:

- Reconcile many General Ledger accounts; Research claims of forged checks; Create linked Excel spreadsheets of accounts and revenue sources; Retrieve information from IBM AS400 and invoice reports and keyed the data into Excel spreadsheets. Generate Excel reports utilizing Excel data filters. Created County Business Personal Property Itemized Tax Returns. Keyed data into an Access database running under Windows 95.
- Simplified the accounting procedures for booking entries between clearing accounts and in-process accounts for Electronic Funds Transfer and Overdraft Protection for principal and interest payments on consumer loans; Developed procedures for clearing rejected items; Posted general ledger entries; Created a manual of assigned duties.

- Balance general ledger accounts and clear very aged items from those accounts as part of a major account clean up project.
- Identify and correct errors caused by the complex interface between the subsidiary ledgers (American Financial Services software) and the general ledgers (Systems Clearing) for 3 - 5 states per day; take initiative to perform special projects.
- Use analytical approaches to identify causes of problems and quickly resolve the problems by direct action or by using communication skills, a personable manner, and assertiveness to have others resolve problems that fall into their area of responsibility.
FAR WEST FEDERAL SAVINGS BANK (later sold by the RTC to KEY BANK with employment temporarily to TEMPSAMERICA of NY), Portland, Oregon (1988 - 1994)
Accounting Specialist (1992 - 1994)
Reconcile bank and general ledger accounts; create account reconciliation reports, training manuals, and forms; monitor accounts receivable; input journal entries into both the automated batch processing and manual on-line systems; backup accounts payable; train coworkers on software usage; update databases of loan assets and of authorized signers on corporate accounts.
- Recommended changes to an in-house program that were implemented within one month. These changes resulted in time savings of one-half hour per day due to increased automation of the journal entry upload procedure and fewer printing errors.
Retail Operations Representative (1988 - 1991)
Communicate extensively with 42 branches; supervise the updating of contract records; train new coworkers in the contracts subdepartment; control quality of contracts, stop payments and cashier's checks disbursed; describe signatures; make on-line account maintenance entries.
- Detected an error in the software revision that tracked stop payments. Solved the problems by suggesting changes that were implemented within a few days.
- Simplified the maintenance of stop payments by changing the filing system.
