Karting
I have been karting for about 4 months now at my home track Sandown Park. This track is fairly long at approx. 900m and includes a blistering straight where most karts (even single engine 4 strokes) can achieve real speed by the time they hit the sweeping bend at the end.

I am patently aware that there are some seriously quick pro-kart drivers out there and to that end I have decided to practice for months before daring to attempt a race. I am hoping to start the winter series at Sandown if funds hold out and I feel happy enough about it.

There are some simple things that would make my racing career more competitive but may appear trivial to you professional guys. I am going to set up a shared hints and tips page that perhaps I could persuade some of you to fill for the benefit of us newbies.

For example, I only found out recently that the new Bridgestone slicks that I am running need to be pressured at 45psi! Embarrassing to admit but I was running at 25-30psi (the same setting as my old corporate practice tyres.

Also, if any of you are taking part in events or just practising at Sandown, come and say hello. I can be found at most owner driver practice days.

Good luck out there!
