You should first make an ISO image file with other softwares, and you MUST include a boot catalog file (MULTICAT.BIN or BOOTCAT.BIN usually) and all bootable disk images which you want to include.

No need to choose "Make bootable" option of your CD-R software, the ISO image will be made bootable later on.


1. When you run MAKEBT.EXE at DOS prompt, it will ask for the full path and filename of the ISO file to be modified:
Make Multiple Boot CD-ISO Image Modifier ver 1.02
ISO File path and name: _
Full path in DOS 8.3 format (eg. C:\TEMPOR~1\BOOTAB~1.ISO)                      
Enter the full path and filename of the ISO image file, remember! In DOS 8.3 format.
Here, I have entered "c:\test.iso"

2. Then you will see the following screen:

"BC)" means "Boot Catalog", which is usually BOOTCAT.BIN or MULTICAT.BIN. If the boot catalog file you are using is MULTICAT.BIN, enter "multicat.bin" next to "BC)".

3. You will be asked for the name of bootable disk images:

From "1 )" to "10 )", it's for you to enter the filename of bootable disk image. Again, in 8.3 format (Just go to DOS prompt and type "DIR" and you will get the name in 8.3 format, if you are using NT, "DIR /X").

After entering the name, press "TAB" key to move to "Boot media type" field, and use left/right arrow keys to select the media emulation type. You must choose a correct media type.

4. After entering information of boot catalog file and bootable disk images, you will see the following screen:

Now use "TAB" key to move to the "Default" field, move with up/down cursor key to choose the image file that you want to set as default boot entry, and press "Y" key. A default boot entry is the "Default Entry" when you boot the CD with a SCSI CD-ROM, and is the first entry when you boot the CD with an IDE CD-ROM.

You can now press "F1" key, the program will search for the LBA of each boot disk images.

5. The program will search for the LBA of each files, if a file cannot be found, you will be prompted to re-enter the file name.

If all files were found in the ISO image, the program will ask you to enter a name for the Boot Description:

The "Boot Description" is a string not longer than 28 characters to describe the section entry (Entries other than the default entry). Still don't know? See the following figure. Enter "Boot Menu" is not a bad idea.

6. Then the following preview screen will appear:

If you boot the CD in SCSI CD-ROM, it is likely that you will see the above
menu (remark in blue colour), proceed with modifying your ISO file? (n/Y)
The above screen shows what you will see if you boot this CD with a SCSI CD-ROM. Remember! The text in blue colour is for your reference only, it will not be shown when you boot a computer with this CD, maybe you should write down those text for your reference.

How about IDE CD-ROM then? If you boot this CD in an IDE CD-ROM, very likely you will see:
