Central Region Data Center Operations
Perform initial turn-ups of Data Center customers at the Dallas Data Center (80,000 square feet). Maintain MDF and IDFs within the Data Center for data and voice connectivity. Configure Fast Ethernet interfaces on Cisco 6509 switches for customer access. Provide consulting and assistance to customers with any issues regarding connectivity to Verio backbone. Experience with Cisco routers (1700, 2600, 3600), Cisco switches (2900XL, 3500, 6500), and Cisco FastHub 400. Setup BGP peering between customers and Verio 6509's. Maintain and allocate Verio IP space. Troubleshoot any issues that affect customer connectivity to Verio backbone.

Perform initial turn-ups involving dedicated circuits for all new Southwestern Bell Internet customers, including DS1/DS3/OC3, Frame-Relay, ATM, and ISDN. Responsible for all connectivity or routing problems during the first 48 hours after the turn-up. Interface with customers, LAN/WAN consultants, hardware vendors for such companies as Cisco Systems, and telephone companies. Assist customers with configuration of their routers. Very familiar with the Cisco product line (Cisco 700 series through Cisco 12000GSR). Provide tier 3 level support to the NOC (Network Operations Center) department to resolve networking problems. Perform configuration and maintenance of Southwestern Bell POP routers (Cisco, Ascend, and Redback). Configure and troubleshoot routing protocols (RIP, OSPF, BGP). Responsible for all duties in department for setting up customer BGP peers, creating prefix lists and route maps, and identifying and fixing advanced routing problems with route advertisements. Administer local Sun box and run shel l scripts for Ameritech customers. Provide expertise and assistance to customers and provisioners. Perform circuit suspensions and disconnects when applicable for dedicated customers. Previously responsible for problems occurring after hours involving new turn-ups and DSL circuits when acting as on-call engineer. Available via pager 24 hours.
