SPECTRUM ANALYZERS: PROJECTS |
These are some of the Projects we are currently working on. Click here if you stuck in some loser's frame.
MDT: Mobile Data Terminals using Motorola's MDC-4800 protocol - updated Oct 16/98
POCSAG: Alphanumeric paging - updated Aug 1/98
SCANNER CONTROL: Computer-control for your scanner - updated Nov 23/98
NOTES |
Most of the data-aquisition Projects require a voltage-translator interface of the PD20x variety. We recommend you construct All-In-One, our modified data-slicer interface which incorporates the TxD mod, the data pass-through mod (for use with TRUNKER software and the beta Listener/MDT Windows software), and null-modem wiring, all in one handy unit. Due to an upload-file size-restriction at GeoCities, you need to download both ALLIN1-A.ZIP and ALLIN1-B.ZIP. Make a directory and unzip both files in it. If you need assistance constructing this interface, we have written a help file to guide you. Updated May 26/98.
Those who do not require all the "extra help" files can download just the ALLINONE schematic and parts list. This is an updated layout as of May 26/98, which corrects an error in the previous versions. These corrections are present in the current version of the ALLINONE zip files.
You can also build this updated Quick and Dirty interface, which is functionally identical to the original PD20x unit, but uses only seven common junk-box components. It's small size allows it to be constructed around a sub-miniature earphone jack mounted inside a hand-held scanner, or enclosed within a 9-pin gender-changer case or serial-connector hood. Part values are not critical; RadioShack part numbers are included. It has been tested with MDTW1234, PD20x, and TRUNKER. Updated Feb 17/98.

This site contains modified and/or updated software. The original software and information is still available for download. A list of discriminator chips with their output pins is provided courtesy of Bill Cheek's website. Unless otherwise indicated, none of the software posted here works with Windoze 95 or 3.x. But that's why you keep an old MS-DOS-based 386 or 486 lying around, right?
If none of the email addresses work, it's because somebody linked you directly to this page, and you didn't bother to check out the rest of the site.
