Drew's Tip of the Month:November!

Beginner - Intermediate

Setting up! Fast!

In Warcraft II sometimes your opponent will destroy you with ease because of his quickness in getting setup! When you begin with a peasant or peon it is crucial to get setup in a hurry! Most computer enemies will attack very early, and most Human enemies will wait.

For the computer enemies (this is especially important in the Expansion set) it is important to establish yourself as a tough opponent very early. The computer does not have any physical handicaps. It can build faster than you could imagine. If you succeed at this then the enemy will no longer attack you like crazy. They will realize your strength and wait for you!

Human Enemies are not so predictable. But it is still crucial to set up in a hurry. Your mind should be on Defense rather than on attack. (Unless of course you choose to be the attacker) If you can set up your village as a fortress to be reckoned with than the enemy will think twice before attacking foolishly.

Ok here are my tips for setting up in a hurry.

#1

Build your town Hall, then a farm to produce more peasants. Produce four more and get them to work. (never leave a peasant, just standing there, they are useful) Only produce as many as you think you can keep your mind on! (it is important to always know where your peasants are at!

#2

Now when you build buildings you can use your peasants to speed up the process. If you tell a Peasant to repair a building that is being built he will help speed up the building process. The more you use to help, the faster it builds. NOTE: doing this does cost more than normal but if you can get a substantial jump on your enemy it is worth it!

#3

Always keep an eye on your resources! Remember it takes more time to collect lumber than it does gold. Get on that right away, but both are needed.

#4

Place towers wisely. A tower in the right place can save your life. I often will place a tower within a group of eight farms (which are needed) to make it unattakable by troops! Towers inflict a lot of damage but they need to be able to hit the incoming troops preferable before they get to any buildings.

#5

a farm can serve as a good warning sign by putting it out on the frontline so that an enemy will attack it first. You should defend them though!
#6 Upgrade things that will keep your men alive. Especially if you are playing with Humans because if you can keep them alive long enough to train Paladins you can heal them no matter how hurt.

Good Luck
