Let me introduce myself:
I'm Carlos Esteban Córdoba González, born in 1967, in Medellín, the most beautiful city of Colombia (Colombia). I'm a Civil Engineer, I spend my free time with my girlfriend and the rest of it programming and doing anything in the computer, I like to program in Turbo Pascal and to listen the '80s heavy metal

This pages are simply to show some of the things that I like, the elementary (DOS) computer programming and some of my programs, and the slide puzzle, game of 15, taquin, 4x4 puzzle or Rompe Cráneos, as I call it.

ROMPE CRANEOS

rompec.gif

Rompe Cráneos (Skull Breaker)rc100.zip (70 kb) is a version of the classic game invented by Sam Lloyd in the '70s (1870), best known as Puzzle, Game of Taquin or Game of 15. The Tipical game consists in a squared case, of wood or of metal, with little depth, that contains 15 small square blocks numbered from 1 to 15. In reality there is place for 16 blocks, so that, having only 15, the same can be moved and their positions exchanged. The idea of the game is to organize the blocks so that the numbers remain in order in their original position.

The number of possible positions is n! ÷ 2, where n is the number of vertical tiles by the number of horizontal tiles; so, in a case of 2x2 there are 12 possible positions, while in the tipical 4x4 there are just 10"461.394'944.000 possible positions. The present game allows to organize not only checkerboards with the 1 to the 15 numbers, but also graphics from 2x2 to 25x25 or numbers from 2x2 to 23x14.

The only thing you need is download rc100.zip (70 kb) ,the file, unzip it on directory and enjoy scrambling and sorting gifs, bmps, numbers and colored lines

I also have Blanco20 (shareware y freeware)20 (shareware y freeware)Azul versions of this game, some work well, others don't, some for graphics, other for text mode and other for windows. In the future I'll probably put the best of them on this page.

Now I'm working on changing my version:

  1. Using the mouse to point the tiles
  2. Windows version.

TESSELS

If you like the background of this pages, let me told you something about it; is made with a modification of the Truchet Tessels, that takes his name from Sebastien Truchet, a french monkand erudite. The modification was made by
Clifford A. Pickover, it is made with two circle quadrants inscribed in a square, centered in opposite vertex intercepting the square sides in its middle points, it's easier looking the picture: teseizq and tesela. Also can be chaged the arc with a stright diagonal line between two adjacent sides of the square, shaped teseizq and tesela.
If one is randomly placed forthwith to another, can made shapes as:

teselateselateselateselatesela
teselateselateselateselatesela
teselateselateselateselatesela
teselateselateselateselatesela
teselateselateselateselatesela

Also can be made not randomly shapes, but binary represetations of zeroes (0) and ones (1), replacing each zero or one with left or right tessels. For example, if we take the next binary pattern:
01010
10101
01010
10101

and replace each as told, get

teselateselateselateselatesela
teselateselateselateselatesela
teselateselateselateselatesela
teselateselateselateselatesela

If you are interested in another posibilities, what you need is teselas.zip (42Kb). A program to do that kind of graphic. Uses 16 basic colors and stores it as BMP and let you edit and change the color palette, or simply stores as PCX and let you modify with another program.

I'm working in some modifications:
Here you can find more information about any kind of tessels, including links and software.

HORA APAGADO

Hora encendido/apagado heha_103.zip (29 kb) is a DOS and Windows 3.x utility that allows you to know how much time does your computer spends turned on, how many times on a day is turned on, how many hours it is turned on each time, and other time statistics about your computer.

You only need a 286 and DOS 3.0 or greater, a specific directory on drive C: to store data and the best thing: it only uses 1.5kb of RAM. Read the file documentation for usage and other useful things.

As it is a terminate and stay resident (TSR) program in old programming style (real mode), it makes windows95 work on compatiblity mode with MS-DOS, apparently reducing performance of the disk system. I'm working on modifying it for protected mode.

LINEAS VGA

VGA Lines vgal_103.zip (13 kb) is a utility that allows you to change the number of screen lines under DOS or DOS programs that don't change it. You can have 12, 14, 21, 25, 28, 30, 43 or 50 lines in text mode, so you don't lose video speed.

It can also change the text mode between modes 0, 1, 2, 3, 7, modes 0 and 1 for 40 column, 2, 3 for 80 column and mode 7 for 80 column b/w.

It is good if you want to see smaller letters but ot 50 row that shows too small letters, or if you wat to see big letters with 21 or 14 rows.

IS WIN

IsWin.zip (10 kb) is a small utility that let you identify if your computer is working directly in or under a window or shell from . Can be usefull used directly in the command line or ina a batch file, returning a ERRORLEVEL from the windows version.
