After dabbling in art growing up, thanks to two artistic parents, I studied art at Georgia State University and specialized in Surface Design. My love of color and design took me to silk painting after graduation. I did production work painting silks under the name of Figment of Your Pigment for several years, while at the same time dabbling in jewelry making. Economics drove me to learn to make some of my own beads using polymer clay. I enjoyed the polymer clay so much that the jewelry won and I put away my silk paints (though you never know, they could come back someday!)
I decided I should learn to make glass beads to "accent" my polymer clay beads. A local beadmaker Ceile Meyer generously shared an evening with me on her hot head torch and I was hooked! From there, I went to Embellishment in Houston, TX and took a class with Leah Fairbanks and Kim Osibin, who are 2 of the very best teachers (and friends) on the face of the earth. I came home and practically threw away the polymer clay for my new love glass. A few months later, I flew them to Atlanta so that I could take another class, and from there went to Haystack in Maine for a class with Kristina Logan. The trip to Maine was definitely a turning point. After all those years of making art, I never felt like an "artist" until I was at Haystack. I returned home to start my business as a glass beadmaker. I currently sell my beads to bead lovers nationwide and my jewelry is sold to stores under the name Lansdowne House.
