HERE'S A LITTLE ABOUT ZOOT
AND THE BAND
After his tour in the Navy he met up with a band from Charleston, West Virginia and became their Sound and Lighting Engineer.
Zoot also performed some of his original songs at their gigs.
The band was called "RUNNER". It was originally called "COAST TO COAST" in the 70's.
The band traveled throughout the East Coast. The main, or big venues, were in and around Maryland.
One of the favorite showcases was at "The Bayou", in Washington DC.
After the band made it's big move to California it played all the local LA Clubs. While exhausting every avenue trying for stardom it broke up unfortunately.
During this time, Zoot met up with a California gal named Linda. They had a short romance, followed by marriage and then settled in Long Beach, California to start a new life together.
Thus, the coming of, "Zoot Frisbee".
Throughout the years, ole Zoot's had all kinds of people in his band.
Through all the new friendships of musicians over this time,
Zoot has learned to play some other instruments like the Banjo, Mandolin Harmonica and keyboards as well. Although not a master at all of these instrument, he does well enough...
He and also had a Country band in 1997 called ELM, or "Express Line Music".
There was also another band that Zoot played in called, "The Plaid Dads". This was a Irish/Celtic band headed up by band leader, Jim Sanders.
Some of the performers that Zoot's played with
have been in the music business since the 60's.
This includes Ralph Barr, who was a former member of the original
"Nitty Gritty Dirt Band".
Ralph plays Guitar, Bass, Mandolin, Banjo, Keyboards and Penny Whistle.
We really don't know how many more instruments he plays cause he always surprises us...
Zoot's wife, Linda, does percussion and female backup vocals along with Maddie Sanders.
Susan Lovejoy plays the drums, Congas, Bongas
and the Bodhran (Celtic Drum) for Zoots band.
Guy Lovejoy plays the bass for us since August 2001.
From time to time Zoot has special guest perform with his group and one of the best drummers around to really make the sets drive hot as heck has been Jim Sanders (The Mercenary Drummer).
Jim also plays bass guitar, guitar, a mean Penny Whistle and sings great on the Celtic music...
