Words. Oh, words.
The power they seem to wield.
Can turn the world to ash
and stone
And make a heart to feel.
A gentle phrase can bring
a tear
Can feel a soul with love
A forceful one can help
a mind
With just the merest shove
It amazes me what they do
As my pen glides by
I don’t know how I do it
And I don’t ask why
For some a tender rhyme
or two
To lift the weary gloom
And for a special someone
It brings a heartfelt swoon
I pick the words so carefully
My soul I bare to see
With my heart I put to rhyme
The better part of me
With this caution I must
give
Don’t read in words too
much
They’re just a single point
in time
Don’t give them too much
trust
But like was sung so long
ago
By some Brother’s Gibb
Words are all I have
They help me to live
If I can not touch you now
Can not see your face
Maybe words will do the
trick
They can take my place
I may not get to feel you
here
But a word can tell you
so
All the things we’ve left
behind
With the words you’ll still
know
