I started flying for WestAir in December 2000. My first route was Oakland to Las Vegas leaving at midnight and getting back by 8 am. That route was cancelled after about 2 weeks.

Next I did Oakland to Monterey, taking the place of another pilot who was on medical leave.I started the week by driving down for the Monday afternoon flight to Oakland.
I flew back from Oakland early in the morning, then went to a hotel until afternoon. Loading and unloading was done directly from trucks.
Its all manual labor. Usually I finished my week on Friday morning. Occasionally I flew on Saturday.
I was very glad I did not usually have to do the loading or unloading.

On Monterey's ramp you see a lot of famous people and their airplanes. This is Donald Trump's airplane.

I volunteered to take a plane to Halfmoon Bay for the "Planes of Fame" display. I flew over in 10 minutes. Wife and son spent hours driving to join me.

My next regular assignment was to Visalia and back in the morning, then up to Santa Rosa and back in the afternoon, Monday afternoon thorugh Friday morning. This is the ramp at Santa Rosa.
Zack, who lived near Santa Rosa, brought his Motor Home to the ramp so we could have somewhere out of the weather to wait.

After a while, the view is taken for granted.
