My Virtual Reference Desk: A wonderful site with tons of information about all subject areas, including, of course, writing.
Kidsource OnLine: This site has links to many resources for students and parents. It has information for all grade levels and on many subject areas.
The Oxford Text Archive: A very comprehensive site for research on various authors. It has search capacity using a title or an author's name. Very valuable for high school and college writers.
Stone Soup Magazine: A Magazine geared for young people. They accept writing from teachers and from students themselves. It is designed for ages 8-13. At this site, the editors give guidelines for contributing, links to projects and resources, and a sample of the magazine.
MidLink Magazine: Another magazine for young people. It is written "for kids, by kids" and this site has links to information for all grade levels. There is a site specifically designed for adolescents and teens where students can see projects which have been completed by other schools. (There are also resources for teachers at this site. )
Bartlett's Familiar Quotations: An helpful source for finding quotations in research or personal writing.
Encyclopaedia Britannica Online: A comprehensive resource for students who are conducting research.
Strunk and White's Elements of Style: Often required as a resource by teachers, this general writing style guide is available online.
Inkspot:An online resource for publishing information, writing tips and general writing information. It has links to additional resources for writers and it also has information on how young writers can connect with one another worldwide.
Get Your Angries Out: This is a great site for students who are dealing with anger or other emotional situations. It encourages them to write about their feelings in a constructive manner. It also offers information on how they can get their writings about anger published.
Kid Info: Help for students who need to get their homework done, but are stuck on a problem. Also offers help for parents and teachers. It has many resources for writing, including a dictionary, publishing information, vocabulary help, research paper and bibliography instructions, grammar guidelines, and links to other online writing resources.
The following links were made specifically for my students as they studied various units in American Literature and World Literature. They might be helpful for any student studying the subjects listed, though.
