When I started doing poetry off and on,I had an idea to write a poem about something that struck me as absolutely beautiful. Beautiful in the sense of inside and outside. I wasn't intending to write about how someone looked but I was struck by the fact that Ally McBeal appealed to me.
Here was a character who was basically real in the sense that every person nearly had the same trials and tribulations we all go thru. She was beautiful. She wasn't the garden variety sex-bomb ala Pamela Lee,who could make grown men melt just by the dresses she wore. Nor she wasn't as firey like Carmen Electra. She was beautiful on the outside and the inside. I guess that it doesn't take someone who's basic to steal my heart away. (My close friend "galpal" jennifer can do that to me) Oh well, after watching the show,I couldn't help but to grab for a pen and write this ode to her...(and to the stunning and very beautiful actress who plays her Calista Flockhart)
Bound By The Beauty
You weren't like the other girls I saw.
There was something about you....
You were a real woman
nothing phony
You certainly were real
We watched you on a Monday night
Trying so hard to figure out your life.
But you showed us everything with a smile
And we began to adore you in the while
We wished that we knew of a woman like you..
Someone who was really honest
Very unique name
You weren't as bold as Jenny.
You were the one who made us bypass a bad sports game
Just to watch someone who's honest like you.
If those words inspired you to write something beautiful,I'd love to hear from you,e-mail at dsummers@hotmail.com. In the meantime I'll be adding new poems and other verses inspired by the beauty down the road.
