Charan Singh split the Janata Party after Morarji resigned as PM.
He took the help of Indira Gandhi to form the government.
leader from Western UP, Charan Singh was well educated and has
several publications to his credit. He was associated with the
Congress for almost 40 years from the 1930s and was the Chief
Minister of Uttar Pradesh twice. He formed the Bharatiya Kranti Dal
in 1967 and was the founder-leader of several political parties,
including the Janata Party. Singh's rule was unremarkable in that he
was the PM for only five months. Of these, he was caretaker for
more than four months, since by August 20, 1979, Indira Gandhi
withdrew support to his government. Singh is also the only PM so far
                who never faced Parliament.
