Hefner

Cafe Vera, Holland with various B-sides, Winter '99 (A-)
Setlist:
Hello Kitten/The Sad Witch/Greedy Ugly People/The Librarian/Hymn for the Alcohol/Don't Flake Out On Me/Painting and Kissing/Hymn for the Coffee/The Sweetness Lies Within/Twisting Mary's Arm Filler (Various B-Sides): You Need A Mess of Help to Stand Alone/Normal Molly/Mary Lee/Hymn for the Things We Didn't Do/Karen/The Heart of Portland Oregon/Destroyed Cowboy Falls/Blind Girl With Halo/Goethe's Letter to Vic Chestnutt

A nice show from Indie pop guys Hefner. The sound quality for the concert is pretty good, I believe it's an audience recording, but a good one. And obviously the B-sides sound good because they are from officially released singles like The Hefner Heart, etc. (all of which are virtually impossible to find in America). It also includes the new song "Twisting Mary's Arm" which is on the upcoming B-sides release Boxing Hefner out on April 10.

The Revelations (Peel Gospel Sessions) (A+)

Yes, it's an official release, but I put it on the page only because it is virtually impossibble to find. I believe it was a very limted release in England, which makes the changes of finding here in the states or even online about zero. Which is a shame, becuase it's a great single. I received it as more filler for the above tape. Includes Hefner's rendition of "Nobody Know (the Trouble I See)" with a choir, along with other gospel type tunes "Dragnet For Jesus" (with a humorous Dragnet-style introduction), "He Got Better Things For You," and "Turkle Dove."

Also, see my Sound City 99 Tape for more Hefner!
