spent the last entry
talking about the little things I missed from San Diego. Today, I’m
going to talk about some even littler things that I love about my new,
old home.
Yesterday, when I was walking out to the parking lot to go to lunch,
I watched two geese fly right over top of me, honking as they went.
I just stood in the middle of the road and gazed at them. Luckily,
no cars were coming at the time.
This morning, I look out the window and a few delicate snow flurries
were falling. But by lunchtime, the sky was bright with sunshine.
There is this bakery near my grandma’s house that makes the best cookies
I’ve ever had. Now I’m not much of a cookie fan, so these must be
something special to say that about them. We had some of them this
weekend when we went visiting. I haven’t had any of those cookies
in years.
Big trees. Giant evergreens that dwarf most of the houses around
here. They just don’t have those in San Diego.
Pittsburgh gets a rap for being a smoky, dirty town, but I have to tell
you, it’s one of the most beautiful places I’ve ever seen. Even downtown
doesn’t look too bad (in some places, at least) – with gothic-looking buildings
and a cool-looking fountain. But you don’t have to go more than a
few minutes from downtown to see some beautiful countryside, with gently
rolling hills and farms and woods.
And geese, I guess.
