Now this actually was the beginning of a series. My intentions in this
series were simple--superimpose images on the RED, WHITE, & BLUE.
This combination of easily recognizable images, the American flag and American
males of African decent, should evoke various ideas and questions.
It should also be prefaced that this is not just about BLACK (read: Americans
of African decent), but humanity in general. This series is about the disparity
between what we as citizens perceive symbols, cultural and otherwise,
to represent and what they actually are. This series is about what we as
citizens see in our fellow human as opposed to what is projected by society's
interpretations of said humans. |

This was to be the beginning of a series but...well, it wasn't. This
drawing is simply about the passing of the proverbial torch. Ain't it funny
how habits are passed on but the violators don't recognize how and when
they become habitual. |
