Description:
Looking like anything from a single speck to a tremendously
long threat to a Tsunami's might is the Millipede. These gargantuan
vessels make vast amounts of noise from creaking metal joints and chains
and where the Tsunami is graceful and awe inspiring, these vessels appear
ungainly and ready to fall apart at a moments notice. However, for
once the gnomes work has paid off and the vessel, amazingly enough, holds
togethor quite well. Its very nature is that of a variable length
craft made up of interconnecting pieces. Taking their Yawl to a new
level, the tinker gnomes have designed a leviathon to be. Made up
of four types of specialist pieces, all of which fit togethor more
or less perfectly, the Millipede can grow in length amazingly fast then
fal- er come apart just as quickly. At the same time, the links act
as nothing other than part of the hull, amazing both gnome and non-gnome
alike. Air purification gardens can be found throughout tucked into
crevasses, closets and the occasional bed. While needing sunlight
to thrive, they can subsist on the light given off by the Fiery Orbs of
Lightness on the end of the antennae. It is surmised that the gnomes
designed these huge vessels merely so that they could finally finish writing
individual ships' names on their hulls.
Segments
Head
Tonnage: 10
Hull Points: 10
Crew: 1/20
Saves as: Metal
Power Type: Gnomish Major Helm
Cargo Capacity: 4 tons
Description:
The head of the Millipede is the only stand alone
piece, it has the equivalent of a major helm, however it is not exactly
equal. When alone, it acts as a Major Helm, when combined with other
pieces, its only change is that it allows up to 300 tons to follow it.
It draws enough energy from the space hamsters in the other segments to
boost the normal maximum of 100. (In essence it's similar to a bunch
of vessels following really close togethor) The only weapon it possesses
is a form of light ray harnessed from Kindori bulls. Noone is quite
sure how the gnomes did it, but at will, the helmsman can send forth bursts
of blinding light from the Fiery Orbs of Lightness at the tips of the long
antennae that reach out from the head. The head has quarters for
the Grand Admiral, as well as the Captain and Officers. There are
small passenger quarters located here as well, however they are mightily
cramped, and non gnomes generally prefer the Tail area.
Leg
Tonnage: 5
Hull Points: 5
Crew: 2/10
Saves as: Metal
Power Type: Space Hamsters
Armament:
1 Light weapon
Description:
The leg is the second type of segment and is directly
responsible for the vessels SR and MC. The more leg segments, the
higher the MC and SR. If 1/4 the vessels total tonnage are Legs,
then its SR is 3 and MC is D. This is the minimum, the maximum is
Half legs, upgrading to SR of 6 and MC of C. They work by having
one Giant Space Hamster on each side running through a loop which provides
energy for the Helm as well as the legs to wiggle and move (providing motive
energy) The Light weapon is situated on top and is always turreted.
Every leg segment has maximum crew space for 10 gnomes but rarely are there
more than 4 gnomes assigned to a leg. (This not only makes those
on board more comfortable, but gives
more room for plants to keep the air purified and extend air supply.
A 150 ton Millipede with 15 leg segments would be
SR 6, MC C
A 300 ton Millipede with 15 leg segments would be
SR 3, MC D
Car
Tonnage: 5
Hull Points: 5
Crew: 0/10
Saves as: Metal
Armament:
2 Heavy Weapons
OR
2 Lightning Bugs + 1 Light Weapon
Cargo Capacity: 0 or 4 Tons
Description:
This is the standard segment. It is pulled
along and supports weapons platforms, dining areas, cargo holds, etc.
Can be enclosed or open (enclosed for cargo or passengers, open for weapons).
Its most basic form is a simple metal platform (with a rail). In
this incarnation, Heavy Weapons OR Lightning Bugs provide the added tonnage
(2 Bugs or 2 Weapons). For every 5 leg segments, there
must be at least one Cargo Car (for Space
Hamster cages) Every cargo car has at least 2 gnomes' living
space incorporated into its design.
A 150 ton Millipede with 15 leg segments (75 tons), a head (10 tons), and a tail (10 tons), would need at minimum 3 dedicated Cargo Cars (15 tons) leaving 40 tons for additional cars. (or 8 more segments) It would have an SR of 6 and an MC of C.
A 300 ton Millipede with 30 leg segments (150 tons), a head (10 tons), and a tail (10 tons), would need a minimum of 6 dedicated Cargo Cars (30 tons) leaving 100 tons for additional cars (20 more) It would have an SR of 6 and an MC of C.
Tail
Tonnage: 10
Hull Points: 10
Crew: 0/20
Saves as: Metal
Description:
The tail is pretty self explanatory, it's simply
the rear compartment of the Millipede, twice as long as the head and with
towing berths behind it. This is the only solidly designed passenger
area, as the others are rapidly convertable from one thing to another.
In vessels without passenger requirements, the tail serves as a fully furnished
engineering station, with cutouts along the hull providing access to the
towing berths. Thus enabling damaged Lightning Bugs and other small
craft to be repaired more or less to their original state.
Ship Type: Lightning Bug
Built By: Gnomes
Used By: Gnomes
Tonnage: 2
Hull Points: 2
Crew: 1/4 (Standard Crew is 1 Space Hamster, 2 gnomes)
MC: A
Lands: Land Only
AR: 5
Saves As: Thin Wood
Power Type: Giant Space Hamster Wheel or Minor Helm
SR: 5
Armament:
1 Light Ballista (6 shots)
Light Blast (as Kindori)
Cargo Capacity: 1 ton
Description:
The Lightning Bug resembles a rather thick groundling
lightning bug. The Space Hamster runs inside a wheel which in turn
flaps the wings and povides the Lightning Bug with an excellent MC but
rather poor speed. In front is mounted a Light ballista (forward
90 degrees only) As the ship only carries 6 bolts, after firing that,
the extra crewman usually wields a crossbow to down enemy crew. To
aid him the hull of the Lightning Bug can give off bursts of Light, similar
to the Kindori Light Ray attack. This is a twofold bonus. First,
it gives +3 to hit to the gnomes, and Second, it blinds crews of enemy
ships, giving them a -3 to hit the Lightning bug (Making this craft exceedingly
tough to hit) Its final ability is that of boarding. The Lightning
Bugs Legs act as a grappling ram. As soon as the craft has landed,
the giant hamster (with gnomish rider) can leap forth and rampage.
Usually this is done in swarms and very rapidly are crews overwhelmed.
A common tactic is to perform a light burst then swoop in and land in a
swarm, sending 10-20 Space Hamsters on board. This can be exceedingly
effective. Another common tactic is to use the light blast for defense
and repeatedly return to the Millipede for rearming. It takes 2 rounds
to rearm after returning to its Launch Car. (This includes trading
out the tired Space Hamster for a rested one) When equipped for scout
duty, the gnomes will remove the hamster and wheel and instead have a minor
helm installed, upping the crew to 4. All Lightning Bug crews sleep
in their ships.
As there are only 2 full length Millipedes in existence right now, the two can be discussed.

The Multi Legged Wonder is a topped out version.
With an MC of C and an SR of 8 she has Speed and Style, well not a whole
lot of style, but a little. A squadron of 20 Lightning Bugs gives
her strike capacity as well as a nice defensive screen. Her current
crew is at 600 in her shake down voyage. Her whereabouts are unknown
as the Gnomish Yacht club is virtually impossible to infiltrate (rather
, there are so many secret plans laying about on desks, picnic tables,
docks, and even the street, that noone knows which ones are close to completion)

Description:
The Scourge of Bad Enemy Type People is specifically
designed for patrol mission type work, Using her huge compliment of Lightning
Bugs to keep the space lanes free of trouble. She was never fully
named as the gnomes ran out of luminescant paint near the end. The
Scourge is rather slow but she packs a heavy punch. Half her Lightning
Bugs are outfitted for Scout Duty, the other half are "traditional" assault
craft.
