Talks in Clay - "Like Clay in the Potter's One Hand"
" I began my artistic career as an amateur, attending occasional ceramic courses in Ashdod.
I was 25 years old when a malignant tumor was diagnosed in my left arm, which then had to be amputated. In spite of my physical handicap, I did not lose hope and went on creating with great joy of creation. I discovered myself as an artist after I had become one-armed. Coping with clay and with the handicap was a challenge to my work. In order to sculpture one-handedly, I gradually acquired special skills and balance. For me, it's a kind of physical and spiritual therapy. However, apart from the technical-physical aspect, one has further tools, like: willpower, imagination, humor, ideas and thought. Feeling the clay growing in your hand is quite an experience. I lay stress on ideas, motion, flow and texture. The figures are mild, lenient, but also hard, full and loaded until they burst. They complete each other and create dialog and harmony, like in group dynamics.
The sculptures are 30-50cm in height and manganese-dyed in order to render them a natural appearance ".Participation in art courses and lectures given by the Open University:
1983-1984: Ceramics Sculpturing by the artist Yoram Afek at the Helena Rubinstein Pavilion. 1986-1988: "Twenty Century's Art". 1993-1998: "Museum on Friday" - meetings and talks with painters and sculptors.
