An Outline of Lim Kean Yew

Lim Kean Yew was born in Penang, Malaysia on 15th of January 1981. He received his primary education in Sekolah Rendah Kebangsaan Batu Lanchang and is currently studying in Penang Free School where he is doing his secondary education. He is currently in Form 3 and will be taking his second major examination at the end of this year. At the age of 7, he had his first computer, a 80286 IBM PC with CGA graphics card. His interest then was mainly in games. A year later, he started programming in BASIC and IBM LOGO which he learnt from books and his cousin.

He started to go online into the Internet only in October 1995. Although he has only one year of experience with the Internet, he has advanced very quickly and started to construct his own home page in March of 1996. Even though his first attempt at making a home page wasn't successful, he did not give up and continued to reconstruct and improved his home page. He also started his first project in June 1996 which is called Mail Pal. He then continued to be active in several other projects and also started the Mahindarama Sunday Pali School Home Page, which is the official page of the Mahindarama Sunday Pali School in Penang. He is currently the Webmaster of the page and it was he who gave the idea to the committee members of the Sunday school.

He is a member of Mensa and has an IQ of 172. He programs in BASIC, LOGO, Pascal, C++ and HTML. His interest in computers has kept him up to date and he intends to follow the flow of the information age. He has always got in touch with the latest news and always tried to test drive the latest software.

Lim Kean Yew is a very simple person who spends his free time surfing around and do more programming. He is also active in sports like badminton and table-tennis. Being a fellow student, he also spends time studying so that he would be able to continue his studies. He is also a Buddhist and has even been a novice monk before.
