Ken Comment - Coders need to know what they are doing. Substituting something that does it for you isn't good. You need to learn it. Matt Comment - Using a WYSIWYG program to make a web page doesn't in anyway show that you know how to make a web page. It just shows people that you can click on an icon. The only way to learn html and to make your page look great, is to use a HTML editor, not something like Frontpage, Composer etc. Horace Comment - Drag and drop editors are cheating if you don't try to learn HTML. If you try to use it to learn from the code, then it's ok. If you don't, then you're a tool. Kimble Comment - I would have to say yes. You should know the code if you are going to be doing web design and publishing. Besides, it is much more fun to write the code yourself because then you get that satisfaction that you created something that really looks cool and works. |
Mike Comment - No, just so long as you could do it WITHOUT the code. I have to use front page sometimes because it saves time and so on. But if you don't know HTML, it is cheating to CALL yourself a webmaster because all you really are is a geek. Ebone Comment - no if a coder can do it with or without it then it doesn't really matter what he or she chooses. if he does use an editor and trys to pass it off as his own creation, then it is cheating. all that matters is if he has the knowledge and is not just pretending. |
