I wanted to choose a title that is not only a little catchy but also
conveys the reason for what I am doing here. And since my perspective is
comprised of everything I have learned and experienced, I sought to apply
theory into practice. My studies in physical sciences regarding the behavior of large
collections of particles, such as a grain of sand all the way to the
universe, had been clearly described by the universal law involving
energy. But there is another universal principle in concert but
largely ignored, that which involves entropy.
I took the liberty of using it as it relates to the
concept of equilibrium--the state of being in
balance. In the physical
world, the universal principle of entropy dictates that all matter tend to seek
its highest entropy, its equilibrium, its most balanced state, much like a stretched rubber band that wants to return to it's normal
state. In terms of human experience, it could be shown that we also strive
to seek balance in our everyday life.
In the metaphysical world, (of Marcel and Heidegger)
philosophical thought is reflective. Reflection is the recall or re-examination
of our daily experience in order to understand or to comprehend it.
Experience transforms itself into reflection. Reflection occurs when we
recognize a break in the continuity of our experience. Reflection thus
seeks to restore the unity of our experience, and is secondary
reflection.
The principle of entropy naturally empowers secondary reflection in
bringing about balance and harmony in human experience. Entropy is evident
in both the physical and metaphysical world. Just as it could provide the
answer to a physical science paradox, it could provide the answer the
answer to some human paradox....
