Real Audio allows audio files to be carried over the internet easily by compressing them to a fraction of their original size, at the same time reducing their sound quality. There are two ways of putting Real Audio files on the internet: for download, like usual files where the whole file is saved by your computer; and streamed, where the file stays at the server (in this case Geocities) and is sent over the internet as you hear it. The larger files on this page have options for both as it they might take ages to download. I recommend choosing the 'Stream' option, if the sound is distorted then the net is probably too busy or your modem too slow to listen and you should choose the 'Download' option, which will take longer, but improve sound quality.
TDMRE was a radio programme broadcast on Falmouth College of Arts' student radio station, Flavour in July 1996. Presented by Mark Shergold and Daniel Cattanach, and ably helped by myself, the programme included several telephone calls. These calls, edited and digitally cleaned up, appear here. The files are all quite small, so a 'streaming' option isn't included.
Student radio programmes have a very low budget and we'd
run out of records, so we thought we'd improvise...
