My Exerpts

Life’s Choices © Donald A Schneider III 1998

Life is a series of complicated trials.
Trials that we as human beings always try to overcome.
Whether it is love or money, sex or religion.
There are trials and choices we have to make throughout our whole lives.
One trial is the choice of good and evil.
No one is essentially good or evil, it is just how one lives their life.
If they choose to be mean and rotten their whole lives most would say that they were bitter or evil.
If they chose to "go the distance" and "make it count" their whole life one might say that that person is good.
Whatever someone chooses to do with their life it is their choice and no one else’s.
But I implore you, when it comes your time for you to make your choices, make them and stick with them, don’t shirk them.

Life & Death © Donald A Schneider III 1998

Now, then, or later what is the difference?
Life is full of twists, turns, and timetables, all "needing" to get done.
But I say, why?
Why the limit? Why the constraint?
Eventually we will all end up at the same place.
It will happen to rich or poor, king or slave, peasant or prince.
Some welcome it, some fear it, but they all acknowledge it.
Some weep for a youth lost, or an age missed.
Death I think is not to be feared or welcomed, but understood.
Understood that it will happen to anyone, no matter what you get done in this lifetime.
Some say a well led life will let you better off in the next.
Some say that you come back to fix mistakes from the last life, but still it is acknowledged that it will come.
Everything that you deserve in life will come to you, be it good or bad.
Take it, deal with it, and do what you must and live your life, don’t worry about later.
Just understand that it will happen, and I think, you will be much less stressed in your life.

Love © Donald A Schneider III 1998

Those who have it usually take it for granted.
Those who know it but don’t have it either miss it or scorn it.
Those totally without it long for it.
It is love that I speak of.
Love from another.
Love for another.
Love for themselves.
It hurts, it heals.
It fells, it soars.
It is.

The Cycle Of Life © Donald A Schneider III 1998

The world goes ‘round, but who can stop it?
The days turn into night, but who can stop it?
We die, but who can stop it?
It is a never-ending cycle that none can stop.
It will come and go regardless of how we feel or try.
It is our lives.
We can leave our mark if none stops us, or if we don’t let anyone stop us.
So reach for your goals.
Reach for your destiny and join you place in the great cycle of life.

Music © Donald A Schneider III 1998

Music, I believe, is the soul saver at the heart of all religions.
People use music to preach, heal, spread joy, tell history, convey emotion, and to make love.
It is taught in, out, and throughout the world.
It was around since the dawn of man, and will continue till the end of the world.
Wherever you go you find one type of music or another.
Over the years tools were made to help increase the beauty of vocal music.
Music is used by young and old, rich and poor.
Where it is used it will win out over all.
Where it is banned it will find its way back.
It will turn tides, stop wars, or do just about anything if you just let it.
If the world could agree on just one thing it will probably be music.
Most of all music is a form of self expression.
I believe that if you let music in your, you will lead a healthier happier life.
So let it in, and who knows, it might just do you some good.

The Constant © Donald A Schneider III 1998

Life is a cycle.
It goes round continuously, regardless of how we try to stop it.
The one constant in that cycle, though, is love.
Love for our pets, and our spouses.
Love for our families, and the occasional total stranger.
Love can hurt us or heal us.
Use it wisely and we will all be better off.

Honesty & Responsibility © Donald A Schneider III 1998

Why is it so hard to admit that we are wrong when we are?
Is it because we are afraid of getting hurt?
Or is it because we are afraid of rejection?
I believe it is the latter.
A simple paradox, we are afraid of rejection so we reject the responsibility, and often other people with it.
Those who do this are often said to argue for the sake of arguing.
I cannot say that it is good, for it is not, but some do think so.
So the blame gets blown back and forth, until no one really remembers what started the argument.
Then we go and live our lives unresolved.
Honesty and responsibility, why are they so hard to be and do?

Beauty © Donald A Schneider III 1998

Beauty, do we really ever take time to appreciate it any more?
Or do we just stand there and either take it for granted or say that it is no more?
Beauty in nature, beauty in a dove.
Beauty in ourselves, and beauty in love.
It is that which is in our hearts and souls that makes us beautiful, not external appearances.
Too often one person or another is passed off because he or she id "ugly" or "gross", all without ever really getting to know that person.
It happens every second of every day.
So stop for a minute, take it in, and admire the beauty around you, in others, and in yourself.
See how you feel after that.

We Feel © Donald A Schneider III 1998

We feel hate.
We feel love.
We feel joy.
We feel sorrow.
Over all we feel a lot of things.
The most powerful of which is love.
It can kill us or sustain us.
It can make us feel like we are flying or we are dieing.
It is powerful yet fragile at times.
It needs constant attention to grow and flourish or it will die.
Once we have it, it pains us to be without it.
We need it in our lives.
So one and all nurture it and let it grow in your hearts.
Don’t live without it.

Who Are We To Judge? © Donald A Schneider III 1998

It is said that we, as human beings, let the sins, that we see, all around us go unpunished because we don’t care.
Now for some that may be true.
But as I feel is that we have been granted free will, it isn’t that we don’t care but that it isn’t our choice weather people sin or not.
Tell me, is it right to reward a sin or crime with an equal or more intense sin?
Is it right to murder a murderer?
A murder as in the taking of a life by another.
Call it execution, call it vengeance, but it is still murder.
Do two evils make a good?
I think not!
For a lot of people I do not think that it is because we don’t care or don’t want to see.
I think that we do care, and we do want to see, but realize that it is not our place in life to judge the criminals and sinners.
For have we not all sinned at one time or another in our lives?
Now I am not too keen on the Bible but this phrase of Jesus’ I do wholeheartedly agree with, "Let the one amongst you without sin cast the first stone."
I am not saying that I am a saint without sin, for I have committed crimes.
I just point out the simple truths in this world and lifetime as I see them.
If I am to cast a stone I will cast it at myself, for in my eyes and mind my whole life is guilty.
If you are truly without sin in your life, here, I offer you a stone to cast against me.
But think long and hard Judge, Priest, Juror, and the like.
For we all have skeletons in our closets, be they big or small they are there.
Will you add another one with my death?

Why? © Donald A Schneider III 1998

Why do we hurt?
Why do we heal?
Why do we hate?
Why do we love?
Why do we steal?
Why do we give?
Why do we want?
And why do we need?
Why do we feel all of this?
Is it because we want to?
Or is it all because of a grand scheme and design?
These are questions asked tens of thousands of times a day.
And the two most common answers are;
1) I don’t know.
Or
2) It is human nature.
I don’t agree with either of these.
I don’t claim to know the answer but I do claim to feel these things and ask these questions.
Maybe you can help me.
Do you know why?

Helping Each Other © Donald A Schneider III 1999

We look around and see joy, love and happiness.
Yet when we look in a different direction we see sorrow and hurt.
Now I don’t know about anyone else, but my heart goes out to those who hurt and hate.
When I look I want to help but at most times I don’t know how.
All I can do is lend a shoulder to cry on and an ear to listen.
Yet for every hundred of people like me there are those that say there is no help for them and we should get rid of them.
Nothing about helping them, and so the cycle perpetuates.
And you know, my heart goes out to them also.
And if I can go to one of those people and show them how to care and help I am happy.
A lot of the time all the hurting people need is a kind word and a smile to help them, yet some are too afraid of those people to give that.
I say swallow your pride and fear and go out and touch a life.
I promise you will feel really good after you do.

The Hearts Battle © Donald A Schneider III 1999

As the snow falls softly on the harsh ground,
a battle stirs with losses all around.
The battle isn’t one on the physical plane,
but on a plane where there is honor and shame.
The battle is of the heart and mind,
where one is cold and logical and the other gentle and kind.
When these two don’t agree watch out,
for around the corner there will be some kind of hurt lurking about.
When they agree all is bliss,
as compared to a maiden in a hayloft’s kiss.
My heart is in almost constant turmoil,
yet, in this plane of existence, it leaves me no time to toil,
on things like love and hate.
For it seems my heart will not stop and wait.
It is an instrument of love and healing,
something devoid of loathing and fearing.
It loves all who come in contact with it,
it will try to heal your heart even if you want to roast mine on a spit.
Yet when hurt the mind steps in,
and erects a blockade to stop all hate and sin.
For the mind will sit back and watch it heal,
all the time wondering if the healing from the heart had been real.
And the heart will break down the barricade and start the cycle anew,
with the love the and the hurt.
And who knows the next person could be you.

My Fears © Donald A Schneider III 1999

I am afraid to live.
I am afraid to love.
I am afraid to hate.
I am afraid to be.
But through all that fear I find reason to go on.
Be it the faith of a friend or the smile of a child.
It strengthens my resolve and helps to find tomorrow.
At times it hurts like hell,
But at other times it can be total bliss.
Is the fear in my heart, my head, or both?
I don’t know that I’ll ever know.
But I do know this,
As long as a child smiles for me, or a friend has faith in me,
I will survive.
Try it I bet you will too.

Missing You © Donald A Schneider III 2000

Days go on like years,
My heart yearning for yours,
My skin longing for your touch,
Where are you?
My soul pines in your absence,
Why must love hurt so bad?
When your with me I feel I can fly,
When your not it tears at me,
I miss you.
I love you.
I want you.
I need you.

The Lie of Life © Donald A Schneider III 2002

You wake up and realize your life is a lie,
Next night you go to be hoping to die.
You live life stuck in a dream,
And all around you nothing is as it seems.
You hold the knife wishing that you could,
But you put it down because you know you should.
You live your life hurting from day to day,
Hoping that someone will take the pain away.
Someone to hold you,
Someone to love you,
Someone who will be there for you as you need.
Then as you think you find them,
You find your but just another whim.
You go back to the lie, go back to the dream.
You go back to a life that you find obscene.
Your only wish is to end your life,
So you will feel no more pain, and strife.
But Death is your mistress and won't let you rest,
She's under orders to make you finish the test.
But this I'll tell you,
This I'll let you know.
Life IS fucked up and will take any chance to fuck you over.

The Graveyard © Donald A Schneider III 2002

The graveyard of life,
The graveyard of the heart,
The barren wasteland that once saw sun now sees naught,
That once saw hope, now, only despair.
One mishap brought dark forever into the light.
There in the cliff of despair is a steep but treacherous path leading back into the light,
But will one climb it and die trying, for that is how treacherous the path is,
As one starts to climb one finds a knife on one side, a gun on the other a razor in front, and poison behind.
All say that they are the only way back to happiness, the release. Does one choose?
Above one sees that to see any light one would have to climb unto the very stars themselves, too far and not worth it.
One looks at the forms of release and wonders which is most painless, For one has felt enough pain already.
The ground below so close could reach it but be in despair and hate forever. Death or Depression which to choose....

Back to my den.
