(As of 10 am 25 May 97) 1. Introduction Retired Military can travel in a Space Available (Space-A) Status on military planes. When they say Space Available that's what they mean. If they have space avaliable you can fly for free. All you need is a military ID card. But you don't know where you can go or if seats are available until the very last minute. So that is why I can't tell people where I am going...because I don't know. But I can tell them after the fact where I have been. 2. Tampa, Florida When I drove out to MacDill AFB on Monday morning I had no idea of where any planes were going. I arrived at 8:10 am and found only one plane going to Biloxi, Mississippi. While waiting for that plane they announced another plane going to Wright-Patterson AFB in Dayton, Ohio, so I signed up for that Space-A. Upon arrival I fould only one plane going to Scott AFB near St Louis, Missouri, leaving about 3 pm the next afternoon. 3. Dayton, Ohio On the flight to Wright-Patterson AFB I remembered the John and Fran Detrio lived in Dayton, Ohio, so I called them and left two messages on their phone. Unfortunately, they both work so are not home during the day (I,m going to have to collect some office phone numbers for people. So I went to the officer's club and called them again at 4:30. They came to the base at 7:30 and we visited until 10:30. See their hot link for more... a. The Detrio's This is a really nice base. I have never been there before, but will go back when I have a chance.

4. Colorado Springs, Colorado I have been to Colorado Springs many time since 1956 when my family first visited my aunt and uncle there. As it turned out I had two whole days there, but have visited all of the touristy things. I could have rented a car and drove someplace, but I was waiting for that "Hop".
