CMedia CM8738 WDM Audio Device Driver Version 5.12.01.0415 Readme file

This package installs an update to the Microsoft(R) Windows(R) 98
device driver for the CMedia audio adapter that comes preinstalled
in your IBM(R) computer. This update requires less than 1Mb of space
on your hard disk (drive C).

This update package is intended for IBM PC300 machine 2169-xxx which
comes with a preinstalled CMedia audio adapter.

Print this file so that you can refer to it during the installation.

Downloading the update
----------------------
1. Click the file link to download the file from the Web page.
2. When prompted, select a drive and directory in which to save
   the downloaded file.

Installing the update
---------------------
 
1.  Double-click the icon for the file just downloaded.  The file name will be
    DD1ZxxUSA.EXE where xx will be a number representing the level of driver
    downloaded.
2.  Click Next.
3.  Click I Agree.
4.  The installation folder setting should remain as
    C:\IBMTOOLS\DRIVERS\DD1ZxxUS (where xx will be a number representing the level
    of driver downloaded).
7.  Click Finish.
8.  Click Yes.
9.  Click OK.
10. Go to the desktop and right click on My Computer and select
    Properties then Device Manager.
11. Double-click on Sound, video and game controller icon and then
    double-click on CMedia CM8738 audio driver.
12. Select Driver then Update Driver or Update Driver straight away
    if it appears on the opening screen.
13. Click Next, click Next again and select the Specify a Location
    option only and choose the path C:\IBMTOOLS\DRIVERS\DD1ZxxUS (where xx 
    will be a number representing the level of driver downloaded).
14. Click Next then Next again.
15. If you are prompted to Insert a Disk, click OK, ensure that the
    Copy Files From box is set to C:\IBMTOOLS\DRIVERS\DD1ZxxUS (where xx 
    will be a number representing the level of driver downloaded)
    then click OK again.
16. Click Finish.
17. Viewing the device manager again should confirm that the driver
    is installed correctly.
