Product Specifications Overview -------- The IBM ARTIC960 Support for OS/2 ANDIS and NDIS, in conjunction with the IBM ARTIC960 Support for OS/2 and the IBM Communications Server, provides wide area network (WAN) communications through the ARTIC960 adapter. The driver implements the following functions. - OS/2 ANDIS MAC -- Allows the SDLC protocol driver, X.25 protocol driver, and the V-SERIES Port Connection Managers (which are all part of the IBM Communications Server package) to configure and communicate over the ARTIC960 communications ports. - OS/2 NDIS MAC - allows the Frame Relay protocol driver to configure and communicate over the ARTIC960 communications ports. To the other protocol products in the system, such as IBM TCP/IP and NetBIOS in an OS/2 environment, the Frame Relay WAN support appears to be the device driver of a token-ring LAN adapter. This appearance allows other protocol products to communicate through a WAN as though they were communicating through a LAN on their own system. Note that the Frame Relay WAN support consists of two components: -- Frame Relay protocol driver, which provides Frame Relay connectivity for frame-relay networks and point-to-point connections -- Frame Relay WAN Access for 802.5, which provides LAN adapter appearance mentioned previously. The Frame Relay WAN support is part of the IBM Communications Server package. The IBM ARTIC960 Support for OS/2 ANDIS and NDIS comes with the ARTIC960 Support for OS/2 and the OS/2 ANDIS and NDIS MAC configuration file, which defines various parameters related to the ARTIC960 communications ports. The IBM ARTIC960 Support for OS/2 ANDIS and NDIS is on the IBM Communications Server CD-ROM (Version 4.1 and later). Alternatively, it can be downloaded from the ARTIC World Wide Web (WWW) site. Fixes and updates to this software will be available from the WWW.
