Insert a diskette into your diskette drive. 2. a) If you're using DOS, or a DOS session under Microsoft Windows, type: dd filename A: (A DOS version of the dd command is stored in the images directory and also in the /tools directory on the distribution CD.) b) If you're using the Solaris operating environment: Determine whether you are using Volume Manager (vold) by typing: volcheck ls -l /vol/dev/aliases/floppy0 If you see a message similar to this: lrwxrwxrwx 1 root 34 Jan 21 17:28 /vol/dev/aliases/floppy0 -> /vol/dev/rdiskette0/unnamed_floppy type: dd if=filename of=/vol/dev/aliases/floppy0 bs=1440k eject floppy0 If you see this message: /vol/dev/aliases/floppy0 not found type: dd if=filename of=/dev/rdiskette bs=1440k 3. When the dd utility completes, remove the floppy from the drive and label it appropriately. 4. Follow the instructions in the Solaris 2.6 (Intel Platform Edition) Driver Update 2 Guide to install the drivers you want.
